At Physiotherapy Department we provide treatment aimed at improving movement,reducing pains, preventing injury and restoring functions. Our physiotherapist are registered with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board(M.R.T.B). We run outpatient and inpatient services.
A large volume of patients with arthritic conditions, low back pain of different origins, brachial Plexus injuries, Sciatic nerve palsies, Cervical Spondylosis, stroke, Cerebral palsies etc are seen in the outpatient. We provide pre-operative physio for patients going for different surgeries. We provide rehabilitation for Post burns, post spinal surgeries and Arthroplasties
Physiotherapy Department is located on the extreme of the first floor (right wing) of the main hospital building (North of ABSUTH Gate) next to the outpatient pharmacy. Wheel chairs are available for easy access via the ramp (east of the Accident & Emergency) for non ambulant patients. The department can also be accessed through the central stair case left of the main hospital reception. .
The department is open from Monday to Friday. In patients are seen during normal work hours, in the evenings and weekends according to demand. .
Referrals are from the GOPD, SOPD, MOPD, A&E, ICU, Medical, Surgical Paediatrics, O&G wards and from other hospitals. There are also self referrals and these are directed appropriately. NHIS patients are also seen.
On your visit to the physiotherapy department you will receive a warm welcome at the reception desk where you will be given orientation on the activities of the department and further directions on the payment depending on your condition.
The physiotherapist will carry out a physical exam after which you will be given your appointment on an appointment card which you will always bring with you.
On your First (1st) visit please bring along any radiographic imaging like x-rays, MRI, CT scan you may have taken, along with list of medication you may be taking.
NHIS patients would be required to visit the NHIS office in ABSUTH first before visiting physiotherapy department.
