Abia State University Teaching Hospital (ABSUTH) is committed to fulfilling its mission and challenges, which include the provision of high level tertiary health care, training of medical and allied medical personnel, and research into prevalent health care problems in the society.
According to the edict upon which Absuth was established, The following founding objectives were considered
- To meet the training requirements of the medical students of Abia State University College of Medicine and Health Sciences.
- To provide a broad range of general and specialized services to meet the health care needs of people within the catchment area and the country at large.
- To provide technical support to primary and secondary health care facilities within its area of operation.
- To provide facilities for the training of different cadres of health professionals both at diplomate and post graduate levels.
- To conduct research into prevalent health and health care related problems of the populace.
